The tournament is a single elimination with consolation. Every player will have a chance to win prizes in the main event and then again in the consolation event if they lose in the main event.
The main tournament matches will be 9 points. Fields will consist of 32 players and the winner will qualify for the winners tournament/play offs. Losers of the main division will automatically be entered into the consolation tournament. Matches will be 7 points in the consolation. Matches in the winners tournament will be 11 points and the finals will be
13 points.
The cost to enter the tournament is $35. Entry fee is $30 with 100% return. Registration fee is $5 with no return. Entry fees and registration fees must be made by credit card or personal check. Credit card entries may be made on-line via the Games Grid On-Line Registration Form, or by phone at (800) 423-3962 ext-11 or (613) 234-5771 ext.-11. Personal checks must be drawn upon a Canadian or U.S. bank, (canadian funds at prevailing exchange rate of 75%) travelers check from any country and mailed to : 205 Catherine St., Suite 200 Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K2P 1C3. Upon receipt of payment, player will be entered into the next available field of 32.
Reentry or multiple entries will be by single elimination with the same rules as above and the same entry and registration fees. Any player will be permitted to reenter until a maximum of 1,024 entries are received.
Distribution of winnings will be as follows: 75% to the main event and 25% to the consolation. In the main event there will be prizes for the top 8 places. The 1st place winner will get 40%, the 2d place winner 20%, the two semi-finalists 10% each and the four quarter-finalists 5% each. In the consolation there will be prizes for the top 4 places. The 1st place winner will get 50%, the 2d place winner 25%, and the two semi-finalists 12.5% each.
The minimum prizes guaranteed for the winners (regardless of the number of entries) are as follows: in the main event the winner will get $3000, the finalist $1500, the two semi-finalists $750 each and the four quarter-finalists $375 each. In the consolation there will be prizes for the top 4 places. The consolation winner will get $1250, the finalist
$625, and the two semi-finalists $312.50 each. These figures are all based on the minimum entries and will increase with each additional entry (100% return).
All matches will be assigned through random draw.
