What Is NetGrid?
NetGrid is the term used to
encompass the PSINet high-speed, international internet
backbone which CyberArts calls home. In an effort to
boost the speed and level of interactivity of gameplay,
CyberArts is inviting all GamesGrid participants to hop
on the NetGrid. NetGrid is made possible through the
joint efforts of CyberArts, ProMobility Interactive, and
PSINet.

The reason
CyberArts chose the PSINet backbone to host the GamesGrid
was to take advantage of the leading edge ATM based
Frame Relay technology. While this made GamesGrid faster
than any other internet based gaming environment, one
road block remains, preventing GamesGrid users from
experiencing breathtaking levels of speed and
interactivity. This road block is the inherently slow
transfer speeds associated with GamesGrid's users' local
ISPs. PSINet, a corporate internet provider, has now
teamed up with ProMobility Interactive to supply quality,
high-speed, unlimited access to the
PSINet backbone to consumers throughout North America! By
joining NetGrid, GamesGrid players will be on the
same internet backbone as the GamesGrid server, gving exhilerating speed
and mind-numbing interactivity.
