superstars of Backgammon compete against one
another in exhibition
matches on GamesGrid. Matches between these
world champions are now scheduled as follows:
Tuesday, Sept.30th, 6pm EST
Wednesday, Oct 1, 9pm EST
All matches can be viewed, after the fact,
through Gammon
University. The matches are posted in .zip format and full instructions are contained on the appropriate page.
September 15 - Gammon Lovers! Watch the best do battle at the GamesGrid Pro Exhibition
Match today. Paul Magriel and Mike Svobodny -- two giants of BG -- will
play at 1800 hour eastern time. Magriel has been the leading theorist of
backgammon for over 25 years and continues to add to the largest collection
of tournament victories of any player. Svobo is the legendary traveling
pro who is known as the ultimate money player. He is rarely seen playing
in tournaments, but has managed to win every major event in the world
including the World Championship, The World Cup and the Nordic Wide Open. This and many other matches are available for download from Gammon University.

So what has the GamesGrid been up to for the past six weeks other than working on our memberships? Well, the latest release (which is a non-download) includes the following for our members:
WHAT IS IN THE WORKS?
We are preparing for the BIGGEST tournament ever in internet backgammon. We are referring to our $10,000 Members Only Tournament. Check out the tournaments section of our web site for complete details.
Back by popular demand, LONER, our friendly computer player is coming back in October. We are hoping to clone him so he can play at different levels with our Members.
And if that is not enough...we will be announcing a "full" release of "brand new features" for our Members to enjoy.
September 20 - Further details on the $10,000 tournament have been released. Be sure to visit the tournament pages and familiarize yourself with the rules for this tournament. Registrations will commence in early October with the tournament set to commence at the end of October.
Peter Jes Thomsen (PeterJesThomsen), who won the World Championship in 1983 and then finished second in the same tournament a year later, will tee off against Micheal Meyburg (michaelm) who is the 1993 World Champion
This match will be commentated by an expert of the game.
Kit Woolsey (KitWoolsey) will play Bill Robertie (Robertie)
