Welcome to
Version 1.6 of GamesGrid!
The new version of the software adds many new features which make your playing experience more pleasant. You asked for changes, we give them to you. The new version is available for download here.
To make the game more personal we have added the following new features:
- Automated downloads - Say "Good-Bye" to ever having to worry about how or when to download software again. You will not need to download the file
from our web page again; all future upgrades will be automated.
- New Icons - On the matchboard you will see new icons (neat graphics!) that identify different types of users, like hostesses, members, sysops, and
others. Stay tuned as we'll keep adding to this list.
- Private Games - If you type "/private" on the game chat log no one
will be allowed to observe your game.
- JellyFish - Save a game position to a JellyFish file and, in turn, learn
from JellyFish.
- Gag List - Formerly named "Ignore", you can now keep a gag list that will
allow you to mute any members you personally put on this list. (Be careful
not to put too many family members on your list!)
- Blind List - On this list you can decide which members can watch your
game - and which ones can not!
- Matchboard - Select the texture that you want for the background of your
game board.
To make the GamesGrid more efficient we offer the following changes:
- T1 - A new T1 line is now directly connected to our new (and improved)
server.
- Simple Messaging - In response to your requests, we've taken the first
step to having a sophisticated messaging system. And we'll continue to add
to this capability over time.
- New links - Check out HTML links under our "Help" menu and use "email
links" to our services.
- A relationship with PSiNet - The Canadian backbone we were using caused network problems that you and we have been experiencing over the past few
months. Our T1 back-bone is now supported by PSiNet, a supplier that
integrates both broadband switches and high-performance routers in a POP
network. What this means to you is less likelihood of interruptions or
incomplete transfers occurring and a smoother, easier network connection
going forward. We are diligently working toward our goal: rapid and reliable
net access throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. You will soon be able to test your network connection and view the server status right off the GamesGrid webpages.
- A way to reach us - Chat with us on The GamesGrid, email president, marketing, generalmanager or support@cyberarts.com - and let us know what you think.
Your comments are, of course, always welcome.
- As we transition to Phase III and install the new network, please
remember that CyberArts will continue to make any and all corrections
necessary to provide you with quality content on the Net.
